Nepal’s First Musical movie with dialogs

“MANIS THULO DIL LE HUNCHHA”

(It’s the heart that makes one great)

Characters 

Starring: It is a story of two childhood sweethearts who were separated for years and coincidently meet in course of a tradition duel. They are overjoyed to find their lost sweethearts.  Bir Bahadur Nepali is now a young, handsome educated man who is from untouchable caste falls in love with Hira, a beautiful girl who opposes the caste system. She expresses her true love to Bir Bahadur even though he warns her that she may not be happy with him as he is poor.  Other characters are Bir Bahadur’s father Mr. Nepali, who is a downtrodden man living humble life, Hira’s father, priest Chuda Sharma, is a proud, arrogant, rich priest; a very powerful person in his village, Hira’s uncle is a social activist who opposes the atrocity of his brother Chuda Sharma. Other minor characters are child artists Bir Bahadur and Hira in childhood,  mother of slain Nabaraj BK who was killed for loving a high caste woman,  goon who woos Hira to marry him, Nabaraj and his killers.

 

Primary Goal: 

Bir Bahadur and Hira wanted to remain good friends while they were students in middle school. Hira’s father Chuda Sharma discovers their friendship and opposes it. He goes to Bir Bahadur’s home and kicks his father and him out of the village thus Hira and Bir are separated. Years later, they meet in a duel and discover they are the childhood sweethearts and instantly fall in love. The caste system is a formidable obstacle for their union and Bir tries to convince Hira that she should forget him because their love cannot end up in marriage. He gives example of a young man Nabaraj BK, who was recently killed because he loved a woman of a higher caste. Hira is determined to marry him. But they face the harsh reality of poverty, social problems and economic hardships. Their journey to move on challenges their life-long love for each other

 

Major Conflict: 

 

Despite Bir Bahadur being an educated man, he cannot give Hira a life she deserves. He feels guilty for marrying her as he has failed to buy her the new clothes and jewelry and not even good food. Hira tells him she is happy the way she is as their love is beyond all hardship. Bir Bahadur announces that he will take foreign employment to fight his poverty. He promises a much better life for his wife. It was hard for him to convince her but finally he heads to Dubai for foreign employment. After Bir Bahadur leaves, she is impatient and worried when she does not hear from him for a long time. Meanwhile a high caste goon from the same village woos Hira to elope with him. Hira strongly opposes his proposal and threatens to report him to police for sexual harassment and barely gets away from the goon. 



Stakes: 

On the other hand, Bir Bahadur is facing unbearable hardship in Dubai that he does not get the job as he is promised for almost giving up, but Hira assures him to stay strong, and the struggles continue. They need to fight on as their marriage can be ruined and life would be destroyed if they do not move on in their destination. It will be a pure waste of time and if Bir Bahadur returns without much money. 

 

 Key Turning Points: 

While Bir Bahadur is working at an IT company in Dubai, he sees rays of hope. Soon he convinces his employer that he can handle computer and may be able to give the employer more profit. He is promoted to IT professional. While working as an IT professional he invents a rare app that worth is worth a fortune. The employer honors him and Bir Bahadur becomes extremely rich due to his invention. 

 

Conclusion: 

Soon Bir Bahadur wins the heart of the Nepalese community in Dubai who accept him as their leader. They form a co-operative and decide to go back to Nepal and contribute in the development of the country. Finally, a huge number of migrant workers, now members of Co-operative return to Nepal and celebrate. Now Bir Bahadur is so rich that he buys a mansion in the capital city and invites all his people to enjoy. They sing and dance and are happy. At the end, Hira’s father comes in the function with Bir Bahadur’s father and apologizes with his daughter and accepts Bir Bahadur as his son in law. Finally, Hira’s uncle who have always supported their love concludes, MANIS THULO DILAA LE HUNCHHA or it’s the heart that makes one great. This is a happy ending with a victory for different caste lovers who challenge the conventional tradition of caste discrimination.
